Bathroom Remodel Tips: Picking the Right Mirror to Put It All Together

In planning the bathroom remodel for your Atlanta home, picking the mirror probably wouldn’t make it to the top of your priority list. But mirrors actually play an essential role in finishing the look of a bathroom. They’re also highly useful features, especially in doing your morning routines.

Why You Should Never Overlook the Mirror in a Bathroom Remodel

No matter which bathroom style you choose, there’s a mirror to go with it. Consider these choices when looking for the right mirror for your new bathroom.

1. Wood mirrors

Wood mirrors are highly versatile and are made to go with a wide range of bathroom styles. A mirror with a simple unembellished wooden frame can go well in a minimalist Scandi bathroom, while a thick, carved, or ornate wooden mirror can be perfect for a country style bathroom.

A natural or white finish would be preferable for the contemporary/Scandi style, while darker hues are perfect for a country bathroom. A beveled edge mirror gives off a picture frame feel and a classic look. A distressed finish or whitewash, meanwhile, also makes a great choice for a farmhouse bathroom.

2. Metal framed mirror

Metals like stainless steel and iron are also highly versatile materials that can go well with different aesthetics. They work best in contemporary or modern bathrooms, but with the right material and finish, they can also complement a traditional or rustic bathroom.

For example, an ornate brass or copper mirror exudes a country and vintage look. Gold coating evokes a classic luxurious look, while a sleek clean finish is perfect for a Scandi bathroom.

If you want to make a bold design statement, consider an iron frame featuring grills painted in black. It can work well with a contemporary, farmhouse, or industrial style bathroom. Wrought iron, on the other hand, goes well with a rustic or classic look.

3. Textured mirrors

Want a tropical or bohemian vibe in your bathroom? A textured mirror can do the trick. Carved wood, rattan, wicker, or vine evoke an island resort and boho feel, and can give your bathroom an instant facelift without breaking the bank.

4. Unusual shapes

For a truly distinctive and eye catching finish, a mirror with an unusual shape is the way to go.

A sculptural design adds an artistic touch—you can score one at an art shop or craft store, or you can have it custom made. You can also find hexagonal, octagonal, or similar multi-sided mirrors in home improvement stores for a less expensive option.

5. Frameless mirrors

Nothing says contemporary and minimalist more than a frameless mirror. They also work great with other bathroom styles. In fact, with the right complementing finishes, such as a wallpaper or vanity, it can look great with almost all aesthetics. In addition, they’re also more affordable than framed mirrors.

Mirrors may not be up there with the flooring or backsplash in defining your bathroom’s appearance, but it plays a big role in putting the look together. Talk to your bathroom remodeling about the right mirror for you.
