5 Kitchen Cabinet Details That Make You Say “Wow!”

It’s The Little Things

Some of the most interesting, affecting details of any piece of art are comparatively minute. The texture of a brush stroke, a subtle differentiation in color, the kind of font used in a poem, or even vocabulary—all these things end up having a cumulative effect on that which is being perceived, and the same is definitely true in terms of furniture.

5 Kitchen Cabinet Details That Make You Say “Wow!”
How well does a given furniture piece fit a given space? Is the color scheme in alignment, or is there something…off? How about utility: does a cabinet have enough space to meet the needs it represents, or is it more decorative? From finish to handle design, size, and material makeup, there are a number of things to consider here.

Something that jumps out is the question of directed design as opposed to incidental design. That is to say: if you go out cabinet shopping, the options you’re going to find are likely not going to be designed specifically for your kitchen space. You ultimately may have to play a game of furniture Tetris as you go about refurbishing or redesigning your kitchen.

Remodeling your home is a great idea—adding a new deck or applying green energy innovations can save money and increase property value. In this way you’re truly investing in your property. Kitchen remodeling is a really good idea in this regard, but you’ve got to go about it right.

Properly managed, you increase utility, aesthetic appeal, and property value. Go about it wrong and you pour money down the drain. Detailed cabinetry built to meet your specifications can help you strike the perfect balance. Ready-To-Assemble, or RTA, cabinetry can do this in ways you may not have realized.

RTA Cabinetry

RTA Cabinetry
This website is an authority on RTA cabinets. These have the wow-factor without the cost. You get quality cabinetry without having to pay through the nose for it. Now, in years past, going the RTA route may not have been your best bet; but advances in technology and aesthetic have made this solution better than ever.

RTA solutions through Cabinet City provide soft close hinges as well as soft close drawers, and dovetailed drawers. You can get ¾” shelves, as well as doors that are entirely made of hardwood. You don’t have to worry about MDF. Styles can be traditional if you like, but there are additional options available as well.

The body of cabinets include ⅝” as well as ¾” plywood, ensuring the final product is much stronger than traditional ½” plywood in most previously assembled solutions. Backs additionally come with a full ⅝” design allowing you to hang cabinets without having to worry about their structural integrity. Full overlay doors additionally contribute to the tangibility of RTA craftsmanship.

Painted options are also available. White Shaker is one option; these come made from a single piece of solid wood. Additionally, eco-friendly wood from rubber trees constitutes the makeup of many traditionally-styled doors, as well as frames. Full overlay means that only millimeters become visible in terms of the frame surrounding doors. That’s quality.

Maximize Space

Additionally, RTA cabinets are designed to your specifications. What looks outwardly decorative can be inwardly functional. If you need tall pantry space, you just include that in your design-specs. Cutlery inserts are often key, and included in RTA solutions; as are spice racks, traditional drawers, pull outs designed for oils or taller bottles, and everything you’ve come to expect from fine cabinetry.

The goal of RTA providers as a burgeoning solution for cabinet needs is to outpace quality of competitors; from coffee makers hidden behind pocket doors to designs which provide access to outlets hiding behind doors and drawers, you should expect to find solutions for your needs.

Going the RTA route makes it easier for you to acquire more space-hugging solutions while working with the RTA company to get your ideal fit. Basically, you’re able to get high-end quality cabinets that would otherwise be very expensive. Custom-made solutions have that quality to them. RTA keeps the wow, and cuts the expense.

Beyond The Kitchen

When it comes to cabinetry, you don’t have to stop at the kitchen. Additionally there are bathrooms, closets, and window-seats to consider. Space utility makes a lot of sense today. People tend to under-use the space available, which has been one reason the tiny home movement has become as broad as it has.

A creative application of cabinetry can free up a lot of space. Instead of an “island” of drawers and cabinets in the center of a kitchen, you can design custom RTA cabinets and line them at eye level in a circuit around your kitchen. Now you’ve got more floor space for a dining room table, or a cooking station, or something of the kind; and you haven’t sacrificed any storage. That’s a “wow” factor of an entirely different kind!

A Full Suite Of Available Options

The innovations you’re able to bring to bear are much expanded with such customization; and they’re increasing all the time. Consider that applying new interior décor trends will to some degree characterize your property maintenance going forward. Accordingly, it makes sense to keep an eye on the changes as they come.

The truth is, even the most well-maintained homes will have furniture break down, or become otherwise out-of-date. You’re going to have to mix things up in terms of remodel or refurbishment eventually. Customized options will always be ideal, and a wise strategy may be to expect a need for complete revitalization every couple years.

Philip and the Sterling Works team were wonderful to work with on my bathroom renovation! From the estimate to completing the final punch list, the project went smoothly and stayed on schedule. Philip was at my house daily for the bulk of the project, ensuring that all of the subs were coordinated and completing the project exactly as promised. Any small issues that arose were met with solutions from the experienced team. I highly recommend Sterling Works for your next home renovation!

My husband and I cannot praise Sterling Works highly enough! Philip has assembled and overseen a team of pros who do gorgeous, precise work, turning our cramped, hideous 1970s bathroom and small walk-in closet into the Japandi retreat of our dreams--a room we can age into with confidence. Would we use Sterling Works again? Absolutely! If you're lucky enough to find them free, grab them fast! A+++++++++

Philip was hands down the best contractor from start to finish of a project we could have asked for. His attention to detail and understanding my vision for our kitchen was so easy to communicate. The crew he hires from demo and structural engineering work, to cabinet making to local recommendations for suppliers of appliances, countertops, etc are all top notch. The best part was his timeline and budget were accurate and we had no surprises there. I hope he never retires for my own sake. Most of all, he is an in town local and kept our house and dogs safe while we underwent this huge renovation! Peace of mind while turning a project over was such a relief.

Sterling Works did an absolutely incredible job giving us the kitchen of our dreams. They weren’t the first business we met with when planning our kitchen renovation, but we knew after meeting with the owner, Phil, that we had found the right company for the job. Phil understood our vision for our kitchen and was really invested in giving us exactly what we wanted. He was the first contractor that we met with that actually had suggestions and gave some of his own ideas that helped us to make some key decisions. As far as timing goes, I know it’s impossible to promise an exact date for a project, but despite the hiccups that come with renovations in a 70+ year old house, they moved swiftly (not too swiftly as to make mistakes) and finished right on time as promised. 10/10 would absolutely work with Sterling Works again and would recommend them to anyone.

I am so happy with our our 2nd floor renovation project turned out from Sterling Works. Everyone was wonderful to work with, from the flooring crew who had to pivot when the original plan wasn't going to work, to the carpenter who built our custom vanity and the rest of the crew who did excellent work. They all took our wishes into account, offered suggestions based on their professional expertise, and made sure we were happy with the end results. Our house finally feels more like a home than an apartment and we are thrilled with the results.

We recently completed a project with Sterling Works and could not be happier with the experience and outcome. We updated both our kitchen and primary bathroom and they both turned out great. The entire process working with Philip and his team was easy from initial planning to completion. Philip’s team is wonderful. They are all very talented and do meticulous work. Also, they are also extremely friendly and polite. In addition to the great work, they also do the “little things” like cleaning up the work site at the end of every day, which really does make a huge difference with all of the work taking place in the house. Overall, the project was completed on time and there were no surprises on cost. We would highly recommend Sterling Works and are already considering updating a guest bathroom with them later this year.

Had my kitchen completely redone with a lot of special requests and Sterling Works managed it all beautifully. They were extremely professional and all the work was done on time. Philip was so easy to work with and highly responsive, as were all of his crew. The subcontractors he chose were also highly professional and easy to work with. My kitchen turned out stunning, so if you want quality work done on time, these are the guys.

I just finished a kitchen and second room remodel, working with Phil and his crew. I cannot say enough about the process and the results. Phil really helped guide me through the whole remodel process and communicated with me next steps, schedule and the all-important budget. As we came upon a couple of issues and choices, he and his crew were able to offer solutions and options and implement them to perfection. For example, my house is very old so I was terrified of what we would find once we opened the walls. And we did find something – some of the pipes were split and leaking beneath the house, as well as into the basement. Phil and his crew were able to deal with this new situation almost immediately. Going into this, I also worried about having a whole crew in the house for such a long period of time. His crew is really the best group of guys. But by the time the project was finished I could not imagine, not having them around! They are really good people!!! I cannot overstate that! This whole scary process was so easy and enjoyable due to their knowledge, experience and ingenuity. My remodel is absolute perfection. I definitely recommend Phil and hope to have future projects with them. Sincerely, Erin
